Characters of Ybor City is an Original TBAE program series featuring six unique characters and their contributions to the color, tone, and exotic nature of Ybor City - Tampa’s premier Latin Quarter.

TBAE Network’s producing partners on the series were USF’s Osher Lifelong Learning Center, The Tampa Bay History Center, the City of Tampa, and the School District of Hillsborough County, and the Columbia Restaurant. 

TBAE won two Telly Awards for this program in the 35th Annual Telly Awards. Characters of Ybor City is a bronze winner for the History and Cultural categories. “Tampa Bay Arts & Education Network’s accomplishment illustrates their creativity, skill, and dedication to their craft and services as a testament to great film and video production,” said Linda Day, Executive Director of the Telly Awards.

Furthermore, TBAE network is increasing ADA accessibility and Characters of Ybor City is close captioned for greater accessibility for the deaf community. This is made possible by the Florida Cultural Affairs Department through a General Support Grant.
